YAPC::EU::2005 In Braga, Portugal

In 2005 I attended the European Perl Conference for the first time. It took place over three days in Braga, Portugal - a warm, sunny and cheap location. I gave two talks and had a lot of fun with the other various Perl folks I met. Here are some pictures - I didn't take many at the conference itself, but there are loads on the web.

Around Braga

Braga is the city in which the YAPC took place. It's a plesant and clean city with a lot of very beautiful and historic buildings.

Born Jesus

Christianity has been important in Braga for many centuries. Today it has a very strong Catholic presenece. The Born Jesus is a 700-step climb involving many painted statues depicting bible scenes and a big church at the top. It is incredibly beautiful and hard to capture, but hopefully these pictures go some way towards showing it well.

Roman Remains

These are the remains of an old swimming bath and what we'd today refer to as a sauna. They've also discovered what appears to be a theatre there.
